L-QIF: New Swiss fund category

Introduction of new Swiss fund category L-QIF available from 1 March 2024

According to a press release issued today by the State Secretariat for International Financial Matters ("SIF"), a new type of Swiss investment fund, the Limited Qualified Investors Fund ("L-QIF"), will be launched as of March 1st 2024.

This introduces a collective investment scheme under Swiss law that is limited to qualified investors and requires neither authorisation nor approval from the Swiss Financial Market Supervisory Authority (FINMA). The institutions responsible for management are responsible for ensuring that the legal provisions applicable to the L-QIF are complied with. The transfer of asset management is only permitted to institutions with at least one licence as managers of collective assets. With its rapid launch and great flexibility in terms of investments and investment guidelines, the L-QIF offers new opportunities for alternative investments and innovative fund strategies.

As a fund management company, Solutions & Funds provides access to the new fund category and offers its clients comprehensive structuring and advisory services.
